Defra is spearheading the UK’s responsibilities to Integrated Coastal Zone management (ICZM). It is also listening to the policy, academic and public community in its attempts to provide up to date information on the progress of Marine and Coastal matters. Defra's regular newsletter on cross-cutting government initiatives in the coastal and marine environment is now available on line in PDF format. Further, plans are in place to combine it with the Bulletin of the Inter-Departmental Group (IDG) on Coastal Policy. This is a promising step to increase the transparency of discussions between agencies.
